| Classes for Toddlers 12 - 24 months |

Toddlers like to move, so activities swap between seated and moving. They also thrive on repetition and so each term we start with a hello song (singing each child's name whilst they play the tambourine) and then 3 finger play songs which stay the same for the whole term. This helps the children to settle and focus. Then we have a movement activity with shakers, teddy bears or frogs. The rainbow ring comes out for a keeping the beat and pitch activity and again some movement for those that want it. Then we will have a special activity each week - whilst could be playing with shells, autumn leaves or spring flowers whilst learning about sounds, numbers or colours. Finally we play some games with the parachute and sing our goodbye song, and go home tired and ready to sleep.

Using fun and developmentally appropriate activities in a small group setting is a great way for toddlers to learn, not just about music, but about confidence, taking turns, sharing, and coping with change. |
To share and take turns. To sit still for short periods. To sing along to frequently repeated songs. To respond to words such as "high", "low", "behind", "quick", "slow" and "STOP" with actions To keep a beat on a drum or when clapping. To use their body to express a range of emotions. To listen attentively and constructively. |
